Our Story

The Tonalists

The Tonalists are a Soul Blues trio from Melbourne, featuring Hammond Organ, Guitar, Lap Steel and Piano over swamp boogie meets Memphis soul rhythms.

Their repertoire draws deep inspiration from the greats — Lou Donaldson, Leon Russell, Gil Scott-Heron, and Billy Preston — complemented by original compositions that carry the weight of these influences while forging something distinctly their own.

Based in Brunswick, Victoria, the band brings a raw, room-filling energy to every stage they grace. Whether playing an intimate venue, a festival stage or a private event, The Tonalists deliver the kind of live performance that stays with you long after the music stops.
